Speaking eloquently does give you an intellectual high ground. It just isn't the only high ground available, sometimes you can win arguments with the absolutely trashiest English ever just by making jokes such that the audience find your opponent stuffy in comparison, as well as many other rhetorical options.
Let's also not pretend that debate tactics, dishonest or otherwise, are only by men either, being that she immediately utilized the assumed sisterhood cliche in her second post.
Some people also tend to say the most retarded things in a very eloquent way, while others state basic truths with a poor vocabulary. Sounding intellectual doesn't make you intelligent.
Definitely, but you can bamboozle even stupider people and win arguments with it.
