As I was playing modded Skyrim the other day I was remembering how at one time I thought how epic it would be if it was made into a movie. Definitely not not anymore. If made today, how do you think they would butcher it? Obviously the main character would be female and the Dunmer in Windhelm would be the focus of the story.
I still think it would be cool if a great fantasy author wrote a 12 book series about the history of Tamriel or a series on the adventures of past Dragonborns or Morrowind. So many possibilities
I think that the Elder Scrolls series is going to be ruined along racial lines but bear with me on this because I have legit lore reasons on why Bethesda will butcher their lore for ESG money. Hammerfell, the redguard race is the perfect excuse for them to create a giant open world and carpet bomb it with diversity.
Dumb normies and hand wringers will shut down any conversation and criticism about this obvious move by going "But muh game lore states" as if they wouldn't be the first to screech about somebody putting only white people in a game. We've seen how shameless they are so it's entirely plausible.
Dumb normies won't have learned their lesson from Starfield and assume Elder Scrolls VI will be at least decent and buy it anyway. Hype will reach critical mass because they think there's nothing better to play and Bethesda will then use that as an excuse to release some kind of horrid live action series that will inevitably be carpet bombed with all these 'black actors' you've never heard of and perhaps some high profile ones thrown into the mix to get the normies excited like how they brought in Keanu Reeves.
Edit: You're right this is a fun question LOL, because the issue at hand isn't whether or not it will suck, we know it will, it's how they're going to ruin it.
What sucks is you could have an interesting game in Hammerfell if they ignore the kind of people you are talking about. I liked the Redguard woman quest. It’s interesting how that quest has no definitive right answer. I hope you are wrong about ES6 but everything is pointing to them going crazy with the message
Yes I agree, Hammerfell could be interesting, but it won't be, this is something that really gets noticeable when you play story heavy classic games. The story writing is just so much more mature than what we're exposed to today and they're not doing anything revolutionary they just weren't as pussified back then about topics. u/Daucus9 made some great points about all the cringey girl boss stereotypes that plague modern writing but there's all sorts of bullshit they pull along racial lines as well.
I think the worse part is it's incredibly predictable, this is why stuff like anime is always a breath of fresh air because they tend to fall along the lines of traditional masculine/feminine archetypes which can be expanded on in an entertaining way rather than this one dimensional bullshit shoved down our throats constantly.
I've been playing BG2 recently and it got my brain chugging when it came to stuff like lore and story writing.
I’ve been diving deeper into anime and manga and heck, I’ll read an old Superman comic or something and it’s so refreshing to see masculine men being heroic or feminine women who work with men to achieve something
Oh! Totally been there, I've been watching the old justice league cartoons LOL. This is another reason why I've been so biased against live action these days because at least if they're 3D/2D you can keep them looking the same and boot any voice actors that misbehave. I seriously need to get into my sculpting workflow now I have the time and start messing with character design more for my work.
