Yeah, I heard something like this at the water cooler at work the other day. Normally I'd ignore it because talking to people who have such idiotic takes is really grating. But I was tired of hearing things like this, so I just said "Yeah, and what have you done? No one's even talking about you are they? You're talking about someone you hate, that has done things. There would be no Tesla cars without him, no Space X without him. Y'know, all those accomplishments that a team of engineers did, working for him. If he has bought and shuttered it, where would they be now?
Oh and did you remember to thank Henry Ford for being able to drive to work today, or just the plant workers? Or was that 'your' accomplishment, because all you did was buy the car."
One thing about science I hate is how we say one guy figured out everything. It was a group and he was in charge or figured out the parts they didn't know.
Oppenheimer got the credit for the atomic bomb, case in point. Some of the most brilliant minds on the planet working feverishly for over two years had nothing to do with it.
