If the response from the usually silent majority is anything to go by, this is the consequence of the failure of the police to do anything peacefully so now in hushed tones in private beside a few very highly upvoted comments on the Daily Mail website, the overton window on punishment for crimes appears to have shifted to an extreme position.

In a related manner, I do wonder what's coming at the weekend in the UK. Only yesterday Just Stop Oil protesters in the UK blocked an ambulance from attending an emergency and they're getting more extreme in their vandalism. We also have opposing protests coming up for Remembrance weekend.
