Yeah the business model is essentially "make the free version as crappy of a user experience as possible so that people will pay the ransom and get their original experience back". The day they announced a "premium" model I knew they would slowly chip away at the decent functionality of the normal UX.
Hell, the diversity hires they have working there sometimes release some anti-adblock bloat so bad it literally crashes the page. Funny thing is, a patch for the adblock service is put in not 24 hours later that basically turns Youtube back into a normal site LOL. Props to the weaponized autists out there on the front lines.
