I dunno. Terror groups infamously claim credit for the actions of others if it would lead them to greater clout or perceived importance. Even those claims I'd take with a grain of salt. The fog of war is thick. They probably did those things, but it does give them a lot of clout and importance by claiming they did them, too. "Trust but verify" also includes firsthand accounts, in fact it originated in firsthand accounts.
