Honestly, if I saw kids with costumes that had that much effort put in, I’d give them lots of candy no matter what preachy bullshit it was. Most of the “trick or treaters” I see these days are costumeless youths wandering around in small groups, typically from certain demographics not known for parental involvement.
The children that come to my door just hold up their bags and expect candy. Rarely does one actually say "trick or treat" without me prodding them to do so by withholding said candy
