It almost certainly will. In Current Year, political correctness is essentially just lies and delusion; 99% of the time, the truth exists outside of what is acceptable to say or think. It is no longer possible for good (i.e. real) science to remain within the realm of the politically correct.
Even if your field deals with something completely uncontroversial (which is extremely rare these days), simply being willing to discard delusion and acknowledge truth puts you so far into politically incorrect territory you can't even see land anymore.
