He's getting more active again, doing the media rounds and the like. How's everyone feeling about the dude?
I will say, despite his bumbling retard routine, I find him ridiculously charismatic if nothing else. Even if I don't agree with him on something, I can often appreciate how he says it. I've criticized him for it for years, but I just wish he'd be a bit more clear, so people who aren't in the know actually understand what he's talking about, but perhaps it's part of his act. Say something true, but in such a way that it just seems stupid, get the media to focus on it. Seems to have worked for him for many years.
Did people listen to his recent interview with Kristen Welker? She did the standard "get Trump" routine and, as per tradition, largely just got Trumped.
I wish we had better options, but I personally think Trump is far from the worst.
So, yeah, how are people feeling about Trump?
Some people were slamming him for that, but honestly I'm pretty impressed. Also, you have to realize Trump is a massive bullshit artist. I know it's the whole "hahaha, even Trump's supporters think he's a liar" meme, but there's some truth there. Trump says lots of things, not all of them indicative of, well, anything.
So, as much as I often criticize the right attack their opponents on the right from the left, Trump at least executes really well. When he does it, I'm often left feeling more impressed than annoyed. The Kristen Welker thing is a good example; he was asked if he'd sign a 15 week federal abortion ban, and he said something like he'd "get both sides to the table" and bring about "historic peace not seen in fifty years," and "everyone would be happy." It's total bullshit, but it was a much better answer - in my opinion - than answering the question one way or the other.
I saw plenty on the right attacking him for that specifically, but I thought it was pretty genius. He left on the table that he might sign it, but refused to say he would, and dangled some meat for both sides. For better or worse, you can't currently go too hard on abortion, or even the enough of the right will turn on you to hurt you. Which might be stupid, but it seems to be the case. I personally thought he answered the question quite well, in his own supreme bullshitting way.
So, yeah, I agree. As frustrating as it is all these "conservatives" spewing lib talking points, to some extent it's necessary. The first step is getting Trump in office, after all, and everything else comes after that.
