Getting into manga in your 30s is cool because there's so much good stuff out there that you've never read and you don't have to go through the insane lore hoops that modern comic books expect from you, you can just buy Volume 1 and start from there.
I’m a life long comic book collector but just collect older stuff now with a few exceptions like Rippaverse and I see what you mean. I watched Oh My Goddess and saw how easy it was to get the Manga collection and now I think I’ll do that one by one
If you want to read all of Superman's story you have to collect different issues from dozens of different series, limited series, books that are out of print, crossover issues from other lines, etc. If you want to read all of One Piece you just buy One Piece volume 1 and start from there.
Oh absolutely. That is one major benefit I’m seeing with Manga. Superman is one of my all time favorites (along with Spidey) and you are right about following specific stories.
I've run out of shelf space for all the One Piece volumes I've nabbed since 2019, and I've still got like 40 left to buy. I'm like 3 volumes into One Punch Man and Kaiju No.8. I think I'll stay with OPM, but Kaiju is already straying from what I wanted.
I read a ton of Vinland Saga and Vagabond, but I haven't bought much yet. What exposed me to manga so many years ago was Blade of the Immortal and Lone Wolf and Cub. I had the western reprints of them though. Sadly most lost to water damage in storage, and I haven't started replacing them yet.
Nice, I really need to make more room for a physical collection but I have SO many getting updated weekly online hard to find the time to search for a reputable retailer.
I understand about the space issue
