American has never been specifically a race because blacks have been around since the beginning and so have Indians as far as people in reasonably large numbers.
OTOH I don't actually believe people deserve to be 100% of one thing and 100% of another thing. If you are a dual citizen, you're 50% American to me. I have one citizenship. 100% to give. Why should that not count for more? In some cases, we are expected to observe absurdities such as that a person is Canadian and Pakistani and American and from the Cayman Islands and on and on. These people could be reaping the benefits of citizenship in 8 countries, and personally I question their loyalty.
