It always very much seems that Trump leaves at least 1 small mistake (particularly on social media) to drag the media back into ragging on him, so that they can keep reporting on him and feeding the news cycle.
In 2016, the producer of On The Media (a supposedly decent NPR show regarding the conduct of journalism), explicitly railed against both Trump and the Media for falling for the absolutely obvious bait.
For a while there in the past few years, I've been concerned that they actually did learn there lesson, and really did try to just ignore Trump between 2021 and 2022. But he seems to be dragging them back in.
