Hmm, this is an overall interesting case for a lot of the elements involved.
The real guy was getting himself involved in shady shit and should take responsibility for his own stupidity. Killing the gay was overreacting by far but not outside the realm of a justifiable reaction. Obvious 2nd degree murder but I think in these circumstances he should get a lower manslaughter sentencing.
If the real guy didn't react by killing the gay guy, I think what the gay guy did should be a crime in itself. The level of deception was grand. He knew exactly what he was doing, given the lights being turned off, etc... it was an immoral act he was committing and he knew it.
If all the real guy did was beat the gay guy to a pulp but not kill him or permanently damage him too much, I think that would have been appropriate justice served.
