We have these weirdos at TheDonald who want the Taiwanese to fight to the death defending their "freedoms", and then the US will have casus belli to kick Chynas ass, not understanding or pretend not understanding that Taiwanese have no morale when it comes to war with Chyna.

Beside the exposed power plant infrastructures that'll cripple the whole island within days if Chyna missile them, there's simply no will to fight anyway.

they have an aging population with lower than replacement rate so every young person is precious, Taiwan was never under ccp rule and anyone who actually fought the commies have been long dead, there's no longer inherent fear or hatred towards Chyna who are basically of the same culture and ethnicity, they know they'll lose some freedoms if they let Chyna take over, but at worst it's just going to be another hk style "puppet government" replacing the current hated corrupt Taiwanese government.

Half of the Taiwanese population is already ambivalent toward reunification, the other half wants independence from the Republic of China (the legit government of Taiwan) , but they know that's the red line for Chyna and so even when they won the presidency they still proclaimed their legitimacy through republic of China instead of declaring independence and face immediate annihilation
