I fear South America may be trapped in this cycle. The left ruins countries, people get fed up and vote for "the right wing guy" who then gets shredded by the press, the judiciary, and executive powers. Said president has his hands tied and can't do shit to improve the economy.
Then the people start getting pissed because the economy didn't improve overnight and he cut welfare and subsides, so they yearn for the return of the populist left.
I hope I'm wrong, but this is a clear pattern by now. We can only hope Milei breaks it, but it's not looking good.
