Regardless of the creative direction of its pozzed devs, Rust has to be one of the most redpilling games in existence.
The dynamics of social cohesion and the consequences of its lack are on full display. Without a sort of pre-existing "tribal identity" (playing with friends) you are practically doomed to build until someone kills and robs you or you somehow find a way to be difficult enough to kill that you gather people under your banner - but then someone will unfailingly betray you and it's back to square one, killed and robbed.
The siren stratagem is genius, turns the whole thing on its head. I don't think the level of development of the parties involved would even matter either because even the symbolic allure of procreation transcendent enough to keep them rushing in to their doom.
