That's the post, really. Basically everyone is saying it's really good and has no microtransactions, etc. Is it worth a buy, or would I be supporting a woke project?

Gotcha.
I'm in a similar boat. I've mostly only been working through my backlog of games when I do have free time. So I'm not all up to date on a lot of games.
I only played a little bit of Demon Souls; I just didn't find the combat very engaging. So I haven't been keeping up much with From Software's output other than hearing about it in the media.
It's sad times when so many games coming out focus so heavily on faggotry, so it doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much anyway.
Not to shill for FromSoft here, but Demon's Souls (really King's Field but won't count that) is their first attempt at the combat and it has drastically improved by the time it made it to Elden Ring, imo at least. Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring all being unique but being the best or most advanced version of that slow, awkward combat that Demon's Souls has.
Anyway, I will likely start focusing on the backlog myself rather than bother spending anything on new games, plenty of steam stuff to go through that I'd still love to play.
Strong agree on how much 'the message' is focused on these days, staying slightly on topic, BG3 had great potential to really be a better, more RP heavy Divinity 3 and it's a shame we lost that. I know it isn't Baldur's Gate in the way people expect it, but Divinity is a great set of games and has continually improved (and grown) which is likely why it has been infected as well.
