And yes the typo of "American Americans" is legit: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-african-american-studies-course-framework.pdf

I thought it was some woke thing (they're more American than white colonizers or something) but "American Americans" only appears once while "African Americans" appears 167 times so yeah I'm going the proof reading was probably done by a black woman.
