I really don't want to dignify my feed by linking the articles that is highlighting this outrage issue.
Heck does anyone over here really care?
So I'm getting feed about twatters upset that in Gundam: The Witch From Mercury the marriage between the two main female characters is up for interpretation. Aside from the show having Revolutionary Girl Uterna levels of implied lesbianism, it's been an okay show about revenge, corporate shadow wars turning into full scale war and of course giant robot war machines. The alphabet people are mad that the corporate/doctrine led marriage isn't directly stated, and pissed off at Bandai for catering to "bigots" for taking a abstract middle ground.
Are these people really fans of Gundam? Do they really care about the harder hitting themes of this story? Do they even care about the mechs? Or were they only distracted by the awakened hijinks between the two female characters for basically being stuck in what is the corporate levels of a shotgun wedding?
Gundam: Witch From Mercury is an okay Gundam show so far, only see the first season, but I am ready to watch the second because the build up to full on war was intense.
I literally did not give a shit about ANY of the arguments the twatter freaks are screaming about, I was happy they ended up together. I was thinking 'thank god they are with each other and seem happy after ALL the shit they went through'
Spoiler warning as you said you only watched the first half:
I like how they skipped past terrorism, child soldiers, corporate sabotage, WMDs, Risk of AI, forced marriage, maiming, technology that cripples the user to focus on "they never kissed in the end to confirm our ship". Bitches, they BOTH got used hard by Prospera that they both spiralled into depression hard and it took Suletta everything she had to get out of it then it was thanks to her she saved Miorine from her depression spiral after seeing so many people die thanks to her actions.
After all that I have no issue with them getting together in the end because there was proper build up, character development and progression for that to happen unlike something like legend of Kora where last season they just went 'oh these two female characters that dated guys, they gay now'
Bull crap. They could have been good friends in the end. That's how it used to be.
There is zero excuse for two women to get married because life was hard.
There was a time in society where life was nothing but hardship in real life and the comforts of technology did not exist. Through war famine, raids, and revolutions, it wasn't like any average two men or two women who managed to survive through any of that decided "You know what? Let's be gay now!"
Past and current world yes. This world where cloning technology exists (spoiler in fact Suletta IS a clone) then it removes that restriction and you're free to choose straight or gay relationships.
The funny thing is actually how they seem to be the only ones in the end in that kind of relationship out of the cast but from the beginning no one gived a crap about it except Suletta. It's like a future where LGBT activists lost and everyone can be in a relationship with whoever they want (so long as past age of consent) you just can't expect special status because of it.
