Normally it is based on what I can confirm, related to specific factoids. But, general "truth value" isn't what this rule is about.
That rule isn't meant to stop the spread of things that aren't true, but things that are not intentional falsehoods, or in another word: disinformation.
Something that isn't just untrue, or even objectively false, but objectively false to the point that the poster themselves is aware of the fact that what they are saying is false and is still repeating it as if it were true, with the intent to deceive.
This is normally demonstrated by getting a fact objectively wrong, normally from their own source contradicting them, or them sometimes even straight up admitting to it.
Opinions, to be clear, are simple opinions and aren't subject to this rule. Something has to be a specific factoid that is false, and being spread with malintent.
How exactly does the mod team confirm if something is true or false? Do you have some kind of panel with experts on the subject debating it?
I get the intention, but this is not a good reason to ban posts; if it's wrong, the comments will let people know.

Noted. I'll take a look at the mod mail and get back to you within 10 hours. Post here if I didn't.
The truth is always in the comments
