AFIK, there were zero African Shinobi in history. There was one African Samurai, and his situation was very unique and was kind of a big deal.
at least female samurai were not completely unheard of. I wonder if they have you play as an actual historical figure given that they were rare, or if they are just female washing history.

Even that so called samurai is disputed to say the least as there are not a whole lot of documents confirming that he existed.
