It looks less like side as I've heard it's more like 'you take the money and comply or we make your life hell'. Classic intimidation tactic as if they try to back out in the future, you get them on bribery for the money and then insert someone who's more of a stooge.

I don't think it'll get as bad as Europe or America, Japan already out-crazies in terms of having a whole penis festival LONG before the freaks did it and they already express their crazier side through their art in manga and anime. They can't do the whole 'you've been repressing a minority' thing with them as they can express their kinks safely in a designated time and place then live life.

For them to gain ground then they need to insert more of a foreign presence inside of Japan to usurp it's culture from within, THAT would be opposed not just by the huge elderly voting block but by China too, if Japan is getting usurped like that, they have dibs so it'd actually risk a confrontation between the WEF and China and China win's that by proximity.
