I’ve always believed that there are certain things you really can’t say about yourself, only other people can say them about you. Just about any description of skill in any field for example, or women’s common assertion about being “strong and confident” — some things are just too easy to assert and can only really be accurately judged from outside, based on observation. I think I better add “emotional maturity” to that list.
