The games industry is shit, Hollywood is shit, so learn Blender, game engines and make your own shit
You'll have more fun making your own stuff and knowing it will at least be even half-decent compared to the absolute crap the industry is churning out these days will keep up the motivation. Rather than constantly getting your hopes up and setting yourself up for disappointment and expecting somebody to rescue you.
That's purely budget dependent though, while I agree in the long run programming is an infinitely more relevant skill to learn. Even being decent at doing low poly modelling and animation will save tons of money and you can easily piss away a lot of money buying assets if you're not careful and that's me writing from experience. I've had so much more success with getting the results I want doing things myself. Though maybe that indicates to me being a bit of a lunatic compared to other people.
