I don't think the black guys actually wanted to steal the bike. I think they just wanted to harass a white person and picked a vulnerable one. It's almost too charitable to assume they are mere thieves.

Agreed. If they wanted to steal the bike they would have knocked her off it and just took off. This was a terror campaign.
