“No enemies to the left, no friends to the right.” It has been this way for decades.
Conservatives have been conditioned to ostracize and excise any right wing element that is branded “extreme” by the left wing media. Our enemies are empowered to choose our allies. It’s a recipe for impotence and failure. We are continually shaving off our most effective soldiers in order to please people who want us dead.
Meanwhile, the most extreme leftist ideas are wholly tolerated on the left. Leftists do not condemn leftist political violence or eject the most extreme members from the movement. The most unhinged and aggressive elements of the party are at best ignored, and frequently they are promoted to leadership.
To sum up: when a leftist calls a right winger a nazi or a racist, every other right winger rushes to shove the “bad person” out of the right wing movement. When a right winger calls a leftist a communist or a pedophile, leftists circle the wagons and defend “their own”.
