There's a reason that even though the government went and bought an infinite supply of ventilators, hardly any of the emergency supply were used. Someone must have realized back in June/July of 2020 that they were slaughtering people.

I can not fathom how fucking broken the hospitals are. I'm not sure I could trust them with any outbreak. Or even a fucking car accident.

I had a co-worker of mine (who was a full on Branch Covidian) who told me that her family were working in a nearby hospital, and that they expected to be completely overwhelmed by Saturday (which was in 3 days). They said that the hospital staff had been under the impression that the daily death toll would rise to 9,000 for the state. This was for, IIRC, the Omega strain. So, one of the least deadly strains that I knew was already causing the end of lockdowns in some states. I knew I had no hope of convincing her except by only using explicitly left-wing sources that she was ...completely fucking wrong.

So, I showed her MSNBC's tracker for the state, and on that day, the daily death toll was somewhere around 1,500. I also showed her the peak was at 3,000 during the Alpha strain. I told her it was basically impossible for the daily death toll to more than triple in 3 days, to it's highest peak on record (in a nice way).

She told me that that's what all the doctors and hospital staff believed so she wasn't convinced by... even Left-wing, mainstream, data-points. She also told me that the Omega(?) strain was exceptionally deadly for children, and were actually the group most likely to die from the virus. Again, entirely false.

What terrifies me is how all of these nurses and doctors just seemed to accept the literally unlimited amount of bullshit that was being fed to them by the administration. At some point, when you're being told that the hospital is completely over-run with patients, and in reality the hospital is mostly empty; and you're told that most of the deaths are children, and yet none even come in; and you're told that it's the deadliest day in the state, and yet the number of deaths goes down; you have to realize a scam is being pulled on you by people who are less knowledgeable in medicine than you!

It seems like the first time the doctors and nurses seemed to turn around on this was when they were told they would get injections or be fired, regardless of staff shortages, and that they'd be blacklisted from medicine. Tens of thousands of doctors and nurses finally went, "you know what, fuck that" and got fired while the hospitals actually did begin to get overwhelmed from the mass firings.
