This article doesn't have a date. But, just an FYI Stephanie Meyers is Mormon. She wrote that series as a young adult book, with Mormon values. If you weren't aware," 50 shades of Grey" was originally Twilight fan fiction because most of the readers complained that it was entirely too PG. But, it was designed to be PG material!
As an adult I don't usually choose to read books designed for teens. But, I read the series so I could see the movie. I read the book knowing it was a book that could be found in a Christian book store. It's the best novel you'll ever find in a Christian bookstore, and I've read plenty. Most wouldn't even consider having paranormal characters or plots without praising the lord.
This article is as ignorant as adults reading a book for kids, and then complaining that it wasn't up to the romance book standards their usual reads. Btw, this was a huge discussion at the time in the romance reading community. It's very strange that this article is ignoring all of these facts. Because between them, and now there's been a whole lot of drama in the reading / publishing community.
I had to look that up, I had never heard of it. It says there's crossover fan fiction, but the two aren't connected in the same way twilight is connected to 50 shsdes.
I think your friend is an uninformed idiot. Because they sent you an article that completely ignores that abstinence before marriage was one of the main goals of the story.
