The title to this post is inaccurate, the three people were hit but not killed. I do think it’s an interesting “stylistic” decision to include the shooter’s picture in an outlet-affiliated tweet embedded within the article, but not in the article per se. The article and tweet include the same photos of victims but the article leaves out the one of the shooter. I suppose they figure if they face backlash on the whole “showing pictures of black criminals is racist!!!” front, they can just delete the tweet (which will be stale by then) and not have to edit the article really. Editors know what they’re doing, never believe things like this are just random.
