I don't think wholesome Christian stories would make for big dollar mass entertainment either. Any overt message is going to taint enjoyment, unless it's just flawlessly executed.
I'm just hoping there's some level of management that realizes that the goal is to make money, and to do that you should try to please your core audience. The reason you buy these franchises / properties / adaptations is because it has a built-in audience. It's like Hollywood has forgotten that. Or worse, decided it was worth billions to 'retrain' the audience. Like WotC or soon to be Games Workshop are trying to do.
To start making good stuff again, the activists need to be purged. I'd see this as a good time to do that. But.. if the nepotism is that deep, maybe it's better that they simply have to sell off their divisions and/or lease their properties to hungrier companies.
