I swear to god, they start with a traditionally pretty female face, and then they crank one random slider to ten. Maybe it’s the nose bump or the jawline or the forehead, but there’s always one detail that is bizarrely out of proportion or misshapen on female characters now. And this design philosophy is rarely repeated on male protagonists.
Look at Ashley vs. Leon in the RE4 remake. His face is literally perfect - to the point where he appears feminine. Her face is mostly pretty until you get to the nose, which looks like she suffered a severe break in her past. Similar thing happened with Mass Effect Andromeda. The ride is a supermodel, the girl is rocking a serious shnoz.
Once you see this shit, there’s really no denying it. They legit sabotage 1-2 features on female characters. They probably tell people - including themselves - that this makes those female characters more relatable to a female audience, but I think it’s mostly about attacking the still-mostly-male audience with uglified women.
We've all seen the models they use. The models are usually hot. They deliberately uglify them to make the bluehaired pigs and trannies feel about themselves.
