Janet Protasiewicz 55.6%
Daniel Kelly 44.4%
Democrats now have full control of the Wisconsin election apparatus AND now the state supreme court.
Protasiewicz has been candid during her campaign for Supreme Court about her philosophy and values on issues such as abortion, gerrymandering, LGBTQ rights, and environmental protections.[2] She supports abortion rights and opposes the state's Republican-drawn legislative maps.
This creature is now the swing & deciding vote for all Wisconsin legal disputes.
Wisconsin is a "MUST WIN" state for Trump. There is now absolutely no chance of him winning the state. If you believe the election was stolen in 2020, then you have no choice but to accept it will be stolen by a much wider margin in 2024.
Trump has no path to victory on the electoral map anymore.
On top of losing Wisconsin tonight, the fact that full control of Arizona switched to the Democrats in the recent 2022 election also means that if you believe the election was stolen in Arizona in 2020, then you have no choice but to accept it will be stolen by a much wider margin in 2024.
The Republicans in Wisconsin won the Senate and have a supermajority. The Republicans in Wisconsin are two votes away from having a supermajority in Congress.
So no, Republicans are not fucked. Not a single law can be passed without Republican's bringing up said law and voting on it. The governor can be impeached if he tries election shenanigans.
They can prevent bad laws from being passed, but the laws they want to pass will likely get struck down now. It's certainly better than Dems having more control though.
Solely because of gerrymandering. Which the new supreme court can tear down by declaring the maps invalid and redrawing them, just like the lib court did in PA.
Irrelevant. The whole election apparatus is controlled by the executive, not the legislature. The only way to challenge that executive is the courts, not the legislature, which the governor can just veto and the Rs can't override it.
No, because the Rs don't have the votes, which is why they just lost a key statewide race by 11 fucking points.
