I, for one, am wholly onboard this leftist push with erasing any and all references to indigenous Americans from public life. This whole "living together" thing just doesn't seem to be working out.
As an illustration: I'm actually currently working on a project with a client who is providing support to a native American tribe to help them preserve some of their tribal heritage in a digital format.
They are adamant, however, that this heritage (which essentially amounts to some names for things) must remain absolutely secret to anyone outside the tribe.
So I'm happy to take their money, and will laugh when their tribal heritage dies with them because they're fucking morons and nobody cares about their stupid secret words.
What's weird is how often I see the same thing with European cultures. My wife is icelandic, but can't speak the language because everyone speaks to her in English. She tries to find out stories, but the locals think it's going to be misused. I've tried telling them how many times I've seen this song and dance before, but they don't believe me.
For the tribes, it's hard to imagine the culture dying because everyone around them is that tribe. They don't see 30 miles outside of it where no one has a clue.
