Why does a tiny ass team of 40 people need a community manager? Really shows where the priorities lie, and that they don't trust dudes they are clearly close with to interact with their own fans.
At that point, why even have one then? You don't need open and constant interaction with your fans if "staying on task" is under threat by them socializing minorly.
Like, responding to a random tweet on your offtime shouldn't be a threat to your work and if it is, the workplace has bigger problems.
I'm not sure but I think community managers also organize events, press releases, interact with media for interviews, etc.
That's not a community manager, that's a marketing person.
