I’ve reached the point where I would do away with all these. You can celebrate your culture or learn about other cultures year round. I’m fluent in Spanish mainly due to having worked multiple jobs where I had to speak it all day. I made friends and learned about their food and culture and I enjoyed it much more than any enforced calendar month. I’ve also been going to a Lutheran church for about 6 years and I’ve learned a lot about German food and culture
Plus black history is just one long grievance session. I used to think it could be beneficial to see a story about a former slave who opened a business and have some perspective that if they can make those achievements then someone with many more opportunities could do even better. But that’s not the case. So I say learn about all the black history you want on your own time.
There is tons of black culture, and it's being covered up for grievance studies, which washes it away.
Which is why I say it’s a more rewarding experience if you read or experience it yourself. I’m glad I did it that way with Latino and German culture. Although according to my DNA report I’m a tiny bit German so maybe that little bit of DNA guided me to a Lutheran church. Lol
I agree, though I think the same is happening to many cultures. I'm shocked by how many things I do are German Argentine, or Scottish. I had no idea this was my culture because everyone made up what my culture should look like if they even knew it existed. That's just stuff we do as a family or tell stories about.
Very interesting! And yea it is cool how you learn about the things you do or the foods you eat.
