King is one of those [comic] writers where continuity, common sense, plot, and a basis of realism don't matter as long as "the message" is put out there.
In #85 Batman gives Gotham Girl "platinum kryptonite" that will give her superpowers "properly" because up until then her use of her powers meant she was cutting her lifespan down. It's why her brother 'Gotham' died earlier because he went full ham 100% which meant he was unstoppable but also only had like 5 minutes to live as a consequence.
So that's King doing a major asspull of kryptonite lore just so he can keep around his new OC. And this comes after GG helped Bane fuck over Batman and the city of Gotham numerous ways/times just so she could also then lecture Batman that "it's ok to be scared" which is never the fucking point of the character. He knows fear, he's lived through various types of it, he even uses it as a weapon against countless others. How the fuck would he be able to do that if he wasn't able to experience it himself? More importantly one of the driving points of Batman is that he never wants anyone else to feel the same kind of fear he did when both his parents were gunned down in front of him when he was 8 years old.
But then these are questions that modern [comic] writers don't actually give a shit about because it's never about the story, it's about "the message" they can put out there.
