as manufacturers/exporters, but the consumer technology available is the same for all the developed countries, you can buy the same electronics in Japan, Korea, Taiwan or Europe and Taiwan/Korea don't get those export products any cheaper than what you find on international markets. it's not like Korea is hogging secret robot techs that let them replace aging workers. Korea, Taiwan and Japan are all suffering from long term wage depression/stagnation problems
