The other thing is that progressives are far more enthusiastic than conservatives about executing people when the crime is political ("hate" crimes, blasphemy against the Church of Girl Dick, etc). They're so bloodthirsty they would make Spanish Inquisition blush. They're only against the death penalty when a little person's life is ruined.
