Here’s to a better year.
Surely they can’t push Covid for much longer, right??
Anyway, I’ve been struggling a lot this week, tbh.
New Year’s Eve was ok, even if not how I planned it (I almost had a better night, but… Effed it up, lol). Unfortunately the days before and since… Haven’t really been. But New Year’s Day is generally shit, I guess, so I’m used to that.
Anyhoo, hope yours was good, and that this year brings you some good things.
I’m just taking it day by day, myself. If I even make it to 2024, that would be a bit of a “miracle”, at this point. So I guess there’s that.
Peace.
Eh, New Year's was like it always was. I usually don't bother anymore but this year I bought some fireworks because around here we're living on borrowed time. They're trying hard to get them banned.
I swear firecrackers used to be more potent when I was a teenager. Even the large ones make more of a puff than a bang. I went to a hill nearby around midnight to watch fireworks in the surrounding cities. Seemed a lot busier this year. I guess people had to catch up after fireworks were banned for 2 years "because muh covid".
Another group nearby had an interesting "firecracker". You knew it was going to be good when one of them walked like 40 meters into a field and then ran back after lighting it. Giant blinding flash and an explosion you could actually feel. Unlike the sad farts they sell around here.
Anyway, happy New Year.
That sounds like fun!
Fireworks have been banned here since around the time I turned 18 (more than a decade ago) - my 18th was, unironically, the last time I got to let any off, let alone to actually buy them.
Australia is like this, unfortunately. And as shit as it is, there are so many dumber bans and restrictions that have been brought in since then that fireworks feel kind of "minor" in comparison, unfortunately...
But anyway, glad you still get to enjoy them, over there!
The "civic" fireworks around here were decent. I enjoyed that, at least. But yeah, would have preferred (to be at) a party, I think...
Anyway, cheers for the anecdote. Enjoyed it!
Happy New Year, bud!
Ah yes, Australia, the only country that occasionally manages to out-retard mine (Germany).
Parties are a "the grass is always greener on the other side" thing IMHO. When you don't go you feel like you're missing out. When you go it's boring and you wish you were home :D
