After the West helped start the coup/civil war in Ukraine to flip the country away from Russia’s sphere of influence towards NATO/EU there was a great risk of the Eastern half of Ukraine, filled with ethnic Russians, joining Russia. The West, including Israeli entities, funded Azov battalion (which is filled with Ukrainian nationalists some of which enjoy Nazi symbolism) to prevent this splintering.
Not just prevent the splintering bit Azov was designed to help create anti-Russian sentiment. I've been on Azov propaganda telegrams, which by the way, have a huge feel like they're being run by the CIA. They always suggest Russia is Zionist Jews and Putin is a Muslim lover communist that hates white people and wants to reestablish the USSR. I definitely think this form of propaganda helped to radicalize Ukrianians against Russia not just prevent a splint to Russia.
