90% of WWII coverage in school, if my own experience is anything to go on, is about Der Hebesgassen. 80% of the actual history class coverage, plus a "holocaust survivor" book a year in the English/Lit class.
I think at least one of the ones I was compelled to read was actually written by someone who was only a 'survivor' in the sense they were alive while it was happening, but were never in any real danger.
