What I think he was completely oblivious to is that these entities want money and control so much they would put hundreds of millions of people's lives at risk with an untested product and by forging data, etc.

They value control far more than they do money. The reason why companies aren't changing course on "Get woke, go broke" is because money was never their primary motive.
