Everything. It has to be in absolutely everything. Even fucking Transformers...
Can't have the kiddies questioning the "lack" of "soft, queer, enbee shit" in their favourite cartoon series, now can we?
Hasbro makes shit for girls, too, Kotaku-freaks. Ya don't need to steal Transformers, too, smh... :-/
Sidenote: Kotaku has always been this bad/at the vanguard of this shit, hasn't it? Like, unironically, that's why this sub is so-named, no..?
Also, AT WHAT POINT HAS IT EVER BEEN NORMAL TO HAVE A SENTENCE WHERE A CHILD ADDRESSES A ROBOT's "Pronouns"..? WHEN HAS THAT EVER BEEN A LOGICAL LINE OF DIALOGUE??
Oh that's right - never. Because normal human beings don't feel the need to even mention such things.
This got deeper than I expected. Kudos to you for this. 👌🏻
Did the individual “Reapers” in Mass Effect go by he..? I can’t remember…
Also, in Star Wars, “Droids” (not “robots”, remember!) seem to be pretty universally regarded as “he”, unless they are specifically a “she” - when this is occasionally relevant, anyway…
Which, as you say, grants them a degree of “personhood”…
Like, C-3PO is definitely male… I guess with R2-D2 and BB8 we kind of just… Assume?
Feel like it would have been pretty weird for cast and crew, when making the Original Trilogy, if R2 was referred to as anything other than male, given that Kenny Baker was still inside “him”/it, at that point!!
