Honestly, he probably has a good legal case against them for that. He's being required to make an affirmative statement, which is an imposition on his protected speech
That right only protects against governments imposing upon individual autonomy.
A very clever lawyer might be able to argue that the NBA's government-sanctioned monopoly makes it a de facto government agency, but that would be an uphill battle.
