For additional context, shortly before this happened in November 2016 Kanye went on an off-script rant naming Hillary and Obama during the middle of one of his concerts at arguably the peak of his celebrity. Then, right after he's released from the hospital in December 2016 he visited Trump soon after he was elected at the Trump Tower and posed for a photograph with him.
