Anyone here knowledgeable on this type of bio research because I have a few questions.

Given that most of these researchers will publish their findings in some form or fashion, what prevents bad actors from weaponizing? You need an industrial base to create most WMDs. It seems you could put together the next COVID in your basement. Are there any laws preventing ME from making the next COVID in my basement? Why the fuck is this shit not ITAR restricted or straight up classified?
