Historically, the Japanese are a deeply conservative people who ignore the rest of the world and are concerned almost entirely with themselves. They do not change things.

...Until they do.

And when they do, they change them very, very quickly.

The changes they have made in the last couple of years tells me they are about to go Globohomo, and possibly not at the speed limit at all.
