I'm not quite sure how "empowering" "Europop" or "womanhood" reached this point, but apparently this is where we are at, now...
There's literally goat sounds on this album. Brian Wilson (ya know, Beach Boys, Pet Sounds) eat your heart out...
I will obviously never listen to this again (mental torture, no thanks), but maaaannn, I actually underestimated how bad "we" (mainstream Western society) had become...
I must also admit, "transphobic" or otherwise as it may be, that it is... Somewhat harder to take these sorts of lyrics seriously while knowing... Who "she" is.
Like, fine, I accept the "treat me like a woman, reee!" shit, to an extent, but... It's just not the same. And the "sex lyrics" and general trashiness, combined with all that, make the whole thing... Rather surreal.
If "she" was cis, I guess I would just think this was thotty, degenerate, deliberately vulgar crap. But she ain't, so... It feels more like "fantasy wish fulfilment" on her part, tbh.
Fair. I don't mind "sex in music" per se, but this whole album is just... Sex. There is no substance. It is just that. It's like... Vulgarity personified. Which, I suppose, suits her... Schtick (though you say she used to be better), but man, it's like... Degeneracy defined, especially coming from someone with, ehem, that background...
I actually think this album is equally as bad as WAP, which is saying something. But like you say, if you're into that Ashnikko-type shit, it might not come across quite as cringe...
I don't like anything about this stuff, tbh. Like, any of it, lol. Even if it is popular.
If you want to recommend me more, I'll give it a go, but it's clearly... Not my thing. Ha.
This is not a discussion I was expecting to be having here, tbh, but, sigh, she may very well still be the trans singer you were looking for (unless you find them. Let us know, lol)...
All of these bands are Australian (East Coast, mostly NSW). I think they would probably be described as "indie" or "alternative".
More broadly, my favourite genre is jangle pop (Yazoo, the Byrds, Go Betweens, Bangles, etc), and things inspired by it. Early-90s pre-grunge is my... Era (I wasn't alive yet. I just like the music from that time, lol).
I used to go to a lot of gigs (pre-Covid), and I have always gone to music festivals. I listen to a lot of music, just generally not the kind of stuff that is popular now, especially on Tiktok/amongst most people younger than me, lol...

It's all very weird.
