They hate him because he mocked them and exposed their hypocrisy and made them look ridiculous.
Someone who's on the right side of history, and is defending minorities, can not be ridiculed because invalidating a hero is dangerous. Or something.
Initially they saw a professor reject their ideology, so they had to take him down to set an example, and in their hubris they assumed he must be an easy prey.
Notice how they never debate anyone who disagrees. But for a couple of months, presumably because the interviews were all scheduled early on, JP went around from one interviewer to the next and humiliated them all.
Somehow they were all, except a few at the end, unprepared. Again, hubris. I've never seen someone get so much publicity as JP for those few weeks. He was everywhere. Every moron journalist had set up an meeting presumably to expose him. And he made a fool out of all of them.
They hate that. They will never forget, and never forgive.
Then as soon as they saw he can't be gotcha'd, he never got another interview and was purged, but by now the damage was done and they had made him a celebrity.
Another reason they hate him, because they made him, and it eats at them.
JP made them look like the idiots they are. They hate him more than they hate Hitler.
The absolute insanity that JP is the no. 2 enemy of the left, the man is basically a liberal.

Well done, my good sir.
