If there's a "coup" indeed then the Iranian army is incredibly based, and by incredibly I mean they've went through extreme purges by the ayatollahs. Khomeini literally kept severed heads of generals.

Islam is a religion of blood. Islam grew with blood. The great Prophet of Islam had the Quran in one hand and a sword in the other: the sword to destroy the traitors and the Quran to guide. The Quran was the guide to those who could be guided. The sword was for the heads of traitors who could not be guided.
